Welcome to Hera
Hera is a new on-line data analysis service
for the astronomical research community provided
by the HEASARC at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center.
Hera provides:
-
Instant access to any of the data in
the HEASARC's huge high energy astrophysics data archive
-
The latest
version of the scientific software packages needed to analyze the data
-
The linux servers and disk space needed to perform the analysis and
temporarily store the derived results
The main Hera graphical interface window provides all the controls
users need to manage their data
files and run any of the available analysis tools.
-
The 2 frames on the right side of the Hera window
display directory listings of the data files in the user's disk area on
the Hera server (upper right) and on the user's local machine (lower right).
-
The large frame on the middle left displays all the data analysis
tools, organized into various packages.
Currently all of the HEASARC's
ftools and Xanadu software tasks are available, as well as the tasks in the
CIAO Chandra software package. The upper left window displays any high level
data analysis scripts that may be available for processing the
currently selected data files.
To run an analysis task, first select the input data file in the Hera
directory listing on the right, then 'double click' the name of the
desired task on the left. A parameter entry window for that task will then appear
in which you can modify any of the input parameters to that task before
running it.
