A compiled catalog of Faraday rotation measures of point sources

Data extraction and the Galactic RM foreground calculation

Here we provide a tool to extract the RM data in a region specified. When a user input the coordinates of the region as well the search radius (in degree), the web-page will search the sources from the RM catalog we compiled, and show the RM data for the sources located in the region. We will also extract the RMs of pulsars if they are in the region and their RMs have been published. We also provide the 2-band RMs from the NVSS RM catalog of Taylor, Stil, & Sunstrum (2009. Care for an implicit systematic RM uncertainties of 10.0+-1.5 rad/m²).

The search results contain necessary information compiled in the RM catalog, including coordinates, RM value and its uncertainty, and reference, etc. See Xu J. & Han J.L. 2014, RAA for details.

By using these RM data from the compiled catalog, together with the NVSS RMs of Taylor, Stil, & Sunstrum (2009), we can also calculate the Galactic RM foreground in any line of sight on the sky by using a weighted average method. RMs of pulsars inside our Milky Way are not used for such a RM foreground estimation. See Xu J. & Han J.L. 2014, RAA for details.

RMs of Point sources The compiled RMs for point sources
RMs of Extended sources The compiled RMs for extended sources or 2-band RMs for point sources
The NVSS RMs The 2-band RMs from the NVSS RM catalog of TSS09
The pulsar RMs RMs from the ATNF pulsar catalog. Only extract for comparison, not used for foreground RM calculations.
